Local Residents and MBI Councillors campaigning at Knowle Manor You may be aware of proposals to close Knowle Manor Older Persons Home on Tennyson Terrace in Morley and the Morley Borough Independent Campaign to keep it open. . Knowle Manor is owned and run by Leeds City Council. It has over 20 residents. Most are elderly and disabled and the oldest resident is 102 years of age. It has received an Excellent Rating form the Care Quality Commission and is in good condition. The residents and staff are happy.
The Labour controlled Leeds City Council want to shut Knowle Manor and transfer residents into private sector homes to save money. The homes on their hit list are all in outer areas such as Morley and Rothwell while homes in Labour Wards, with poorer Care Standards, are being saved.
Many people voted Labour in this years local elections and feel they have been badly let down by their Morley Labour Councillors and MP.
The present financial problems faced by Councils are due to the financial deficit created by the previous Labour Government led, in part, by Morley Labour MP Ed Balls.
The Morley Borough Independents started the “Save Knowle Manor” Campaign, offering practical solutions to prevent the closure while Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems argue among themselves whose fault the financial crisis is.
We urge you to join our campaign and to sign the petition to prevent Knowle Manors closure.
We also ask you to support the rally on Saturday 11th June at 11am outside Morley Town Hall. Together we can win this campaign to keep Knowle Manor open!
