CCTV for Lewisham Park

Morley's Lewisham Park is to be covered by Closed Circuit Television, following a Campaign by Morley Borough Independent Councillors' Judith Elliott and Terry Grayshon.

The Park has been of concern to the two Councillors' for some time and following a successful campaign, funding has been obtianed for the provision of CCTV as well as a Site Based Gardner who will take care of the Park on a daily basis.

Commenting on the news Councillor Terry Grayshon Commented "This is extremely good news. For some time we have been campaigning for the provision of CCTV in Lewisham Park as we believe it will help reduce Antisocial Behaviour in the Park.  Local residents have contacted me to express their concern over ASB and the fact they don't like their kids playing there. CCTV seemed an obvious answer to the situation. Together with the provision of the Site Based Gardner I am sure this will encourage more use of the Park and it's facilities"

Fellow MBI Councillor Judith Elliott said "I welcome the provision of these cameras, we want people to feel safe using our Parks and I am sure these measures will help restore peoples faith in using the Park.  We have campaigned for this for some time and I am delighted we have, once again, been successful."
