Executive Board  agree affordable housing site

Leeds City Council Executive Board has agreed a proposal to support the provision of new affordable homes on The Glendale House site on Glen Road .

The proposal, which will deliver affordable family homes for both rent and to buy, is part of a six site programme which could draw in around £20 million investment from both the public and private sector.

Councillor Robert Finnigan, Morley's representative on the Executive Board said

"The Morley Borough Independents have been campaigning hard over the last few months to make sure Morley was on the first list drawn up for new affordable family homes. I am pleased that Morley is one of only six sites across the Leeds City Council area to get this support."

The Housing Corporation will be making a formal announcement on the housing provider early next month with a start date commencing shortly after that.

Councillor Judith Elliott said "These are the first affordable homes for rent built in Morley for over a decade. They will be allocated to local residents in housing need. This is the start of a programme which will bring more affordable homes to local people over the next few years."
