Morley Borough Independent Councillors have been briefed on the affordable homes project to commence on Glen Road in Morley later this year. The project, which is on the site of the former Glendale House building, will see affordable 2 and 3 bedroomed houses built for local families. Councillor Robert Finnigan said "This is good news for local people. Some of the properties will be to rent and others will be sold on a joint ownership basis. We have been given assurances that the properties will only be made available to Morley people and this is the start of a programme to bring more affordable homes to Morley families." |

Councillors have seen the initial plan but have asked for more 3 bedroomed houses to be included in the final proposal. Councillor Judith Elliott said "This is a small site but we have started to deliver on our pledge to bring affordable homes on Council owned land to rent and to buy in Morley. The rented properties will be at an affordable rent and the joint ownership properties should be in the range of all first time buyers." The formal planning application should be lodged with the Council this summer with building proposed to commence late autumn. |
