Cemetery gets Gardener

Morley Borough Independent Councillors have welcomed a proposal which will see a Parks and Countryside worker based at Bruntcliffe Cemetery on a regular basis. This follows concerns Morley Borough Independent Councillors raised about the need for additional work at the site.

Cllr Judith Elliott said "We are delighted we have been able to persuade Leeds City Council to put this much needed resource into Bruntcliffe Cemetery. Many local residents, who have their loved ones buried there, have raised their concerns about the condition of the cemetery. Although we have seen some improvements over the last few years, this is the boost we need to improve things further."

Councillor Robert Finnigan, who liaised with Parks and Countryside staff said " I am pleased that we have been able to deploy one of our site based Gardeners to this location. I know that some concern has been

expressed recently about the overall maintenance of the site and people asked if it could be improved upon, a site based Gardener will allow this to happen."
