Former Elmfield School Plans turned down

Morley Borough Independent Councillors were celebrating success at last Thursday’s Plans Panel where Councillors backed local residents to refer an application for the Elmfield School site for revision to reduce the size of the development. The Panel accepted local residents concerns after attending a site visit on the morning of the Planning Meeting.

Cllr Judith Elliott, who lodged a formal objection and attended both the site visit and the Plans Panel Meeting said "I am delighted that the Panel accepted that the present application was unacceptable because of the impact it would have on local residents. Residents spoke at the meeting and I am sure this persuaded Councillors to reject the present application. Elmfield Tenants and Residents Association also deserve credit for this victory as they have supported residents all the way."

A modified proposal will be considered at a later Plans Panel meeting.

In a related matter a Planning Inspector also rejected an appeal against a Developer who applied for a block of flats on land off Topcliffe Lane.

Cllr Judith Elliott, who lodged a formal objection against the proposal said "I am pleased the Planning Inspector, who looks at planning matters independently, rejected this application and put the needs of residents, not Developers first."
