Fountain Primary School will receive £1.9 million to build the extra classrooms it needs to place the school on one site following a decision made at Leeds City Council Executive Board. The decision, which received unanimous support, should see building work commence next September. Councillor Robert Finnigan, Morley's representative on the Board said "I am delighted the school will get the finance it needs to operate as a single site school. Presently the school has to operate on two sites on Fountain Street and this creates additional logistic and financial problems. I am pleased that all Councillors on the Board where keen to support this decision." |

The old school building at the end of Fountain Street will be sold to provide some of the finance for this school improvement programme. Councillor Judith Elliott, who is a Governor at Fountain Primary School said "We are relieved that the finance has been found for this necessary work. We have lobbied hard to deliver the finance the school needs and I believe this has had a positive impact on the decision to finance the work. Fountain Primary is an excellent school and the new building work will help the school to continue with the fabulous work it does." |
