Morley Borough Independent Councillors have welcomed the news that planning permission has been requested for a new playground at Hembrigg Park in Morley. Councillor Judith Elliott said "This is the final barrier to pass before the new playground is built. We have had to work hard to find the cash to cover this playground. The present play area is dated and is little used by local children. Its time for an improvement programme at Hembrigg Park." The playground will be moved to the centre of the park while the location of the present playground will be turned into a car park to ease parking congestion for local residents and footballers using Hembrigg football pitches. |

Councillor Terry Grayshon said "This is part of a playground improvement programme which will also include re-furbishment of Hesketh Lane Play Area. We have been able to identify over £200,000 in funds to support this work. We are grateful for the support we have had from local residents and work should commence this Spring." |
