Elmfield Demolition to face legal challenge

Morley Borough Independent Councillor Judith Elliott has spoken of her immense pride at being elected Lord Mayor of the City of Leeds for the forthcoming municipal year.

 

The Developer behind the demolition of the Elmfield School building could face a legal challenge following action taken by Morley Borough Independent Councillors. The demolition, which took place last week, may breach both planning and legal agreements signed by the developer.

 

A problem traffic island on Gelderd Road is to be removed following a long campaign by Morley Borough Independent Councillors. The island, at the junction with Asquith Avenue and Branch End, will be removed to assist with traffic flow.

Holocaust Memorial Day 2009 saw Councillor Terry Grayshon light a candle to remember victims of the Holocaust.

The Candle, together with a display of photgraphs was placed in the main entrance of Morley Town Hall.

 

Morley Borough Independent Councillors were celebrating the announcement that a zebra crossing is to be constructed near Westerton School close to the Westerton Road junction with Upper Green Way.

 

Morley Borough Independent Councillors are bowled over by improvements at Lewisham Park which means local youngsters now have an all weather cricket strip to use all year round.

Morley Borough Independent Councillors were celebrating the success of their two year campaign to bring affordable homes to rent for local pensioners.

The Councillors raised the proposal to bring new homes for older residents on the Corporation Street site

 

Morley Borough Independent Councilors' are exploring the option to bring an allotment to Drighlington after local residents raised the issue at a recent Parish Council meeting.

Councillors are now exploring the availability of Council owned land

 

 

The prospect of a statue in Morley to celebrate the life of local comedian Ernie Wise is a step closer following a conversation between Cllr Judith Elliott and Ernie Wises widow, Doreen.
