A recent Newsletter from The Labour Party Election Candidate, David Langham, claims that local Councillors have backed an Incinerator in Morley.
We think Morley residents need to be given the facts, without political spin, and then make their own minds up on the issue.

· The need for an incinerator is because the Labour Government, along with European Parliament Euro MPs, agreed to a series of financial penalties on Councils if they continue to landfill domestic rubbish. These fines will cost each Morley household £160 a year in increased Council Tax.
· The Labour Party supports solidifying domestic waste into solid bricks and then incinerates the bricks to get rid of them. This is their much-talked about “Manchester” alternative. Labour refuses to confirm where they are siting their incinerator.
· Labours proposals mean the end of your weekly Black Bin emptying as higher recycling rates have to be reached.
· When the Labour Party controlled Leeds City Council, they agreed several landfill sites around Morley, including sites at Dewsbury Road, Bradford Road, Quarry Lane - Woodkirk, Wakefield Road at Drighlington and at Howden Clough Road. These sites saw over half the rubbish generated in the Leeds City Council area brought to Morley.
· Morley Borough Independent Councillors have publicly stated that Morley will not accept an incinerator as we have already suffered enough under Labour. It is time for other areas to take their share of the burden of waste disposal.
