Morley Borough Independent Councillors have met with street cleansing chiefs on Leeds City Council to agree a new street cleansing plan which is to be trialled shortly. The new plan, which will also see new street cleansing machinery introduced, will concentrate of many of the main routes into Morley including school routes which have been identified as having a litter problem. Cllr Judith Elliott, who proposed the new plan said "Litter is a major concern to many residents. We are working hard to try an keep our streets cleaner and tidier." The new programme will be trialled over the next 3 months and will then be subject to a review. Cllr Elliott said "We are making some progress on keeping our streets tidier. This new plan will have a balanced approach with additional street cleansing coupled with additional enforcement action. I hope we will all see a more litter free Morley." |
